Design Reflection
The criss-cross detailing reflects her real corsets’ tight, body-hugging structure that supported her through isolation and loss. Black lace evokes the dark mourning veils she wore for decades, symbolizing enduring sorrow. The black fabric captures her shift from white bridal joy to widow’s resolve. Ruffles mirror the lavish layers in her gowns, blending elite elegance with hidden pain. Structured silhouettes echo how she commanded her empire—fitted, resilient, unyielding
